Paralan Corporation, founded in December 1988 by Marc D. Brooks; is privately held by Marc and Barry Shiloff. Incorporated in the State of California, we are located in an industrial park in the Kearny Mesa Area of San Diego. In late 1998, Paralan purchased a building, giving much-needed workspace to integrate a host of new products into the manufacturing cycle, to add new test and inspection equipment, and to expand engineering facilities.

Dedicated to expanding the horizons of the Small Computer System Interface (SCSI), Paralan produces products that expand the use of SCSI; from conversion of one type implementation to another (e.g. LVD to HVD), and extending the bus-length through the use of fiber optics.

Paralan was the first company in the world to have a fully functional fiber optic SCSI Bus Extender that works with any manufacturer's SCSI host adapter and SCSI peripherals.

Borrowing from technology used in our SCSI Bus Extender, Paralan produced the first single ended to differential SCSI Converter that actually extended the bus length rather than decreasing it. In early 1994, Paralan introduced the first 16 bit Ultra Wide SCSI Converter.

At the end of 1994 Paralan produced the first ASIC developed specifically for controlling all of the signals used in both narrow and wide versions of SCSI. Early in 1995 Paralan introduced the first SCSI RegeneratoR™ for extending the SCSI bus.

Paralan has developed many state-of-the-art SE, HVD and LVD SCSI expander products. Product line includes:

  • SE/HVD/LVD SCSI Converters

  • SE/HVD SCSI Bus RegeneratoR™

  • LVD/MSE SCSI Expanders

  • Custom OEM SCSI Products

  • Ultra320 SCSI Host Bus Adapter

  • SCSI Switch for Rack Mount or Tabletop

  • Expander Box designed for Telecommunications

  • EB1 SCSI Desktop Enclosure/Rack Mount

  • SE/HVD/LVD SCSI Quiet Cable™

  • SCSI Cable Testers, Benchtop and Handheld

  • SE/HVD/LVD SCSI Expander ASICs

  • SCSI Book

Sanbolic Inc. is a privately held company that was founded in 2000. Our headquarters are located in Watertown, Massachusetts and our development center is in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Sanbolic Inc. provides advanced software for shared storage solutions. Networked storage is one of the fastest growing segments of the information technology market. Our products address the growing customer need for platform- and protocol-independent tools that simplify data storage management, increase system flexibility, and enable shared access to information in a reliable, scalable, and secure data environment.

We have two products designed to allow customers to fully utilize the capability of their network storage hardware. Much of the complexity and inflexibility in network storage installations today results from the use of legacy file systems and volume management tools that were not designed to support networked storage environments. Sanbolic’s products have been designed expressly for such environments, and enable customer to easily manage networked storage as a single pool of data, greatly reducing complexity and giving users much more flexibility in how they can access their data. The design point for these products was a large telecom network operation center application running multiple operating systems. The product architecture has been designed to support multiple operating systems and storage hardware platforms in a very large environment demanding very high reliability. Even with the capabilities, our products are exceptionally easy to install and use.

  1. LaScala ,is Sanbolic’s new host-based clustered volume manager, incorporating advanced transaction management, locking, and clustering technology, which simplifies management and improves flexibility and reliability of shared storage environments. Multiple hosts can simultaneously share access to and administer storage volumes, and volumes can span multiple storage controllers. LaScala provides dynamic online volume creation and growth and automatically updates the configuration of all machines on the SAN without system reboot.

  2. Melio FS is a object-based clustered file system designed for enterprise and high performance storage environments. Melio FS includes journaling for fast recovery, advanced locking mechanisms for file sharing, innovative design for fast access to files, and complete SAN-NAS integration. The current version of Melio FS supports/operates with Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and any block data transfer protocol like Fibre Channel, iSCSI or SCSI.
