AP:use iSCSI,any
selected server may boot up remotely from the iSCSI RAID and start the
operating system. All servers may store their data to the remote
iSCSI RAID (Sol
i8-is, Sol SA16-is)
AP : The iSCSI RAID is taken as
"local disk" by the servers in the iSCSI SAN. In the other words, it's
the same position as SCSI or FC RAID to the servers. Any IT application
such as, Database, server HA, LAN free backup, ... are applicable to the
iSCSI Storage device (RAID).
AP : iSCSI SAN, improves or
changes the workflow of video editing. By using the concept of
"public storage" and "logic storage", it speeds up the document
accessing, eliminates document transportation, saves the storage
capacity and improves the efficiency. Any configured servers and
workstations can access the iSCSI disk array. (sometimes SAN data
sharing software is required)
AP : Digital Video Recording, mostly are storing the video recorded data
into the internal IDE HDD or external SCSI disk expansion unit. Some DVR
stores the video recorded data to NAS storage for longer distance. But
both could not fulfill the demand of "long distance" and "low cost".
iSCSI today, is the best solution
for DVR. By taking the advantage of iSCSI SAN (IP SAN), the iSCSI
RAID allows the high speed with block level of transfers in a very long
distance. For instance, an industrial park, the whole building,
the streets, ... all needs longer distance, higher speed, and
continuously video recording.
AP : The performance of tape
backup has improved much today. But the nightmare starts at the
data restoration from the tapes. It takes twice long to the backup.
With iSCSI RAID plus the backup
software which support "backup to disk" feature, the backup from the
data disk to the remote iSCSI RAID will be much faster and more
reliable. Further, if needed, the restoration is outstanding too.
